Solutions Tailored to France’s Fish Feed Production

Trout and marine fish farming are pillars of French aquaculture, yet they demand different feed buoyancy and pellet structures. Our solutions are designed around target species, integrating tailored extrusion and post-processing to meet both floating and sinking feed needs.
Local firms control costs using native resources: wheat, pea protein, and rapeseed meal. We optimize processes for ingredient adaptability and stability, ensuring smooth application of European formulas with high pellet quality and efficiency.
As producers expand, single-species feed falls short. Projects now cover shrimp, fry, and ornamental fish feed alongside trout and marine fish feed. Our lines feature built-in compatibility, allowing product mix adjustments without major overhauls.
Every project varies in species, raw materials, and investment scale. RICHI rejects one-size-fits-all solutions, customizing technology and equipment to align with the operational needs and future direction of the French market.
Details of Fish Feed Pellet Line Project in France
Our client is located in the coastal region of western France, a hub for concentrated marine fish farming. As their farming scale expanded, the old model of relying on external feed procurement began to face new challenges. Product quality varied across suppliers, and delivery cycles were easily disrupted by market fluctuations. This prompted the client to consider building their own fish feed production facility.
At the project outset, product adaptability was the priority, not just capacity. The production line needed to handle various fish feed products with different pellet specifications and process requirements, all while fitting into the existing plant conditions. After in-depth discussions on product planning, equipment layout, and process flow, we finalized a 10 t/h solution.
During equipment selection, the client focused on long-term operating costs and production stability. Tailored to local raw material supplies and actual production needs, the line features automated control and targeted configurations for key sections. This minimizes manual intervention and ensures smooth, efficient daily operation.
From project launch to official commissioning, the process took several months. Today, this production line has become a vital part of the client’s business, providing reliable support for the stable supply of fish feed products.

10 T/H Fish Feed Production Plant Design for France
Before the plan was confirmed, we held in-depth discussions and evaluations on key construction and operational issues to guide the process design and equipment selection.

Why choose 10 t/h, rather than a higher or lower capacity?

Will new types of fish feed be added in the future?

How to fully utilize local existing raw material resources?

How can the production line adapt to existing plant conditions?

Which links are most worthy of improved automation levels?

Is a production layout adjustment needed for future expansion?
After completing the solution feasibility and equipment selection, the RICHI engineer team developed a complete fish feed production process solution for the client. The entire system was planned around core links such as raw material handling, batching and mixing, extrusion forming, and post-processing, ensuring stable operation of each section and meeting expected production targets.
The project process flow is as follows:
Raw Material Processing System
The project primarily uses locally accessible French raw materials, including wheat, pea protein, and rapeseed meal, along with aquatic feed ingredients like fish meal and fish oil. Based on the client’s formula structure, raw materials are directed into corresponding storage and conveying systems.
01
Crushiing System
Considering the particle size requirements for trout and marine fish feed, grains and plant protein are finely ground before entering the batching section to meet the needs of the subsequent extrusion process.
02
Smart Batching & Mixing System
The system automatically weighs and batches according to different product formulas. It supports switching between various fish feed products, meeting the client’s planning needs for multi-variety production.
03
Extrusion System
As the core section of the production line, the twin-screw extruder produces floating trout feed as well as sinking feed for sea bass, John Dory, and flounder. By adjusting process parameters, it adapts to different product requirements for pellet density and buoyancy.
04
Drying System
According to the process requirements of different products, the moisture of extruded pellets is adjusted to meet the standards for subsequent coating and packaging.
05
Spraying System
Tailored to aquatic feed formulas, the vacuum coating method is used to add fish oil and functional liquid ingredients, suitable for the production of high-end trout and marine fish feed.
06
Cooling System
The client has high requirements for finished product appearance and packaging quality. Therefore, screening and recovery designs are added in the post-processing stage to reduce fine powder from entering the finished product.
07
Packaging System
Designed to accommodate the client’s sales channels for both farms and distributors, the packaging section meets different packaging specifications.
08
Automated Control System
Given the relatively high local labor costs, automation was a key consideration during the design phase. The centralized control system minimizes manual intervention.
09
Key Equipment for the French Fish Feed Plant
With the process route and production targets finalized, the equipment configuration plan has been gradually refined. The selection of each unit is centered on actual production needs, fully considering compatibility, operational stability, and maintenance requirements. The following are the main equipment configurations adopted in this project.
01
Pre-processing System

cylindrical primary cleaner
Features a high-capacity drum structure to continuously remove impurities and foreign matter from raw materials. It is designed for the pre-processing of grain-based ingredients.
02
Crushing System

Hammer Mill
Equipped with wear-resistant hammers and a screen system. The grinding fineness can be adjusted according to production needs to meet the processing requirements of different fish feed products.
03
Mixing System

twin shaft paddle mixer
Delivers high mixing uniformity and a short cycle time. It is ideal for the rapid mixing of various ingredients in fish feed formulas.
04
Extrusion System

Twin Screw Fish Feed Extruder Machine
Features a modular screw design. By adjusting process parameters, it can produce fish feed products of different specifications and buoyancy types (floating or sinking).
05
Drying System

Mesh Belt Dryer
Designed with a multi-layer belt for continuous operation, ensuring uniform drying of pellets and meeting the demands of continuous production.
06
Spraying System

vaccum spraying equipment
Uses a negative pressure environment to add fish oil and liquid nutrients, ensuring the liquid ingredients fully penetrate the core of the pellets.
07
Screening System

Vibrating Screen
Classifies pellets using screens of different specifications and recovers fine powder for reuse.
08
Packaging System

ton bag scale
Supports large-format packaging, suitable for the shipment of finished products in large-scale fish feed production projects.
09
Fully automatic control system

Electrical control cabinet
Integrates the control functions of the main equipment on the production line, allowing for parameter setting, status monitoring, and fault alarms.

Installation, Commissioning, and Training
After the equipment arrives at the customer’s project site, we offer flexible installation support options: You can install it yourself or have our engineers assist on-site.
For this project, the customers chose self-installation. To ensure a smooth installation, we provided detailed installation drawings in advance and provided online guidance. If any problems arise during installation, our technical team will timely provide solutions to get the line running smoothly.
Upon the completion of installation and commissioning, we provide on-site or remote training covering equipment operation, maintenance, and production management. This ensures our clients achieve stable production quickly.
Furthermore, we offer comprehensive after-sales service and spare parts support. Even after the warranty period, clients can always access our technical assistance, guaranteeing the long-term stable operation of the equipment.
Client Evaluation and Project Operation Status
“Before the project started, our main concern was whether a single line could handle different fish feed products, especially the stability of switching between floating and sinking feeds.
So far, the line runs as planned. Switching between products is smooth and adds no extra complexity to operations.
Overall, the performance matches exactly what we discussed during the design phase.”
