Algeria’s Aquaculture: A Growing Market for Feed Equipment

Algeria’s aquaculture industry is expanding rapidly. Driven by the government’s push for food self-sufficiency and rising production targets, the demand for aquatic feed is surging. For feed equipment suppliers, this represents a significant market opportunity.
Current Market Challenges
Currently, local feed processing capacity falls short. Most feed relies on imports or inefficient local workshops. High raw material costs, outdated technology, and an unstable supply of quality pellet feed directly limit the scale and profitability of farmers. Many farms still use powder or wet feed, which leads to high waste and low conversion rates.
Establishing local feed processing capabilities is the key to breaking through.
A complete, continuous, and stable feed production line solves the core issues of supply instability, uncontrollable quality, and high costs.
By providing a full process solution—from raw material handling to finished packaging—we empower local investors to end their reliance on external suppliers. This ensures farmers have access to reliable, tailored feed. For the Algerian market, taking control of feed production is the essential first step toward large-scale aquaculture.
Client Project Details
Project Overview: Algeria Aquafeed Line
Tailored for the Algerian market, this project focuses on producing feed for Carp, Sea Bass, Tilapia, and White Shrimp. With a capacity of 10 tons per hour, our line produces pellets ranging from 0.5mm to 6mm, covering all growth stages—from seedlings to adult fish and shrimp.
Local Ingredients & Formulation
We maximize the use of locally available resources to optimize costs and reduce supply risks. The formulation relies on local energy sources like Barley, Corn, and Sorghum, combined with scientifically balanced protein sources such as Soybean Meal, Sunflower Meal, Fish Meal, and Shrimp Meal. To meet the specific needs of shrimp feed, we add functional additives like Seaweed Powder to boost immunity and water stability. This flexible approach minimizes reliance on imported raw materials.
Tailored Technology & Flexibility
The core challenge was switching between different feed types—Carp feed requires high-starch extrusion, while shrimp feed demands superior water stability and uniformity.
We solved this with a modular, customized production line. Our conditioning and extrusion units allow for rapid adjustments of temperature and pressure, while the drying and coating systems adapt to different oil content requirements. Ultimately, we enable the stable production of the full 0.5-6mm product range on a single line, perfectly balancing investment economy with production flexibility.

Custom-Tailored Solution
RICHI always puts the real needs of customers first. Before providing a shrimp/fish feed production line solution, our engineers conducted a detailed consultation with the client:

Local farming species and future expansion strategies

Pellet size requirements across different life stages

Stable access to local raw materials

Local power, steam, and workshop conditions

Expected capacity and future scaling plans

Final product positioning and target market
The final shrimp & fish feed pellet plant primarily includes the following parts:
Raw Material Handling System
Configured based on the characteristics of grains like corn, barley, and sorghum, this system ensures uniform particle size for improved stability during subsequent conditioning and extrusion. It is also compatible with the addition of high-protein and functional ingredients such as fish meal, shrimp meal, and seaweed powder.
01
Smart Batching & Mixing System
Utilizing automated metering control, this system ensures precise ingredient ratios and minimizes human error. It guarantees consistent nutritional standards in every batch, providing reliable formula support for different farming stages.
02
Extrusion System
Featuring an adjustable conditioning and extrusion design, this system addresses the distinct processing needs of fish and shrimp feed. It meets the requirements for fish feed expansion and floating ability, while also ensuring the water resistance, density, and uniformity required for shrimp feed.
03
Drying System
The drying parameters—temperature, air volume, and retention time—are optimized according to the moisture content and expansion characteristics of different feeds. This ensures uniform moisture release, preventing cracking, deformation, or nutrient loss, thereby enhancing product stability and shelf life.
04
Spraying System
Using a post-extrusion coating process, this system allows for the flexible addition of oils, attractants, vitamins, and functional nutrients. It ensures even nutrient distribution while improving palatability and market competitiveness.
05
Cooling System
Combining counter-flow cooling with vibration screening, this system rapidly reduces pellet temperature while removing powder and sub-standard pellets. This ensures uniform size and intact surface quality, improving packaging efficiency and transport stability.
06
Packaging System
Supports automatic weighing, quantitative bagging, and sealing for various specifications. It minimizes labor input, boosts packaging efficiency, ensures accurate weight and a neat appearance, and meets the demands of large-scale sales.
07
Automated Control System
The PLC intelligent control system monitors the entire production line, tracking temperature, pressure, output, and equipment status in real-time. This reduces manual intervention and maximizes operational stability and management efficiency.

Complete Shrimp & fish feed Making Machines delivery process

Machine Production
After the customer confirmed the plan and signed the contract, our factory immediately began production.
During production, our engineers rigorously monitor every step—from material selection to assembly and commissioning—following unified quality standards to ensure reliable performance and stable operation.
At the same time, to let customers know the progress more, we regularly capture photos and videos of the equipment manufacturing process, showcasing key equipment and semi-finished products. In this way, customers can clearly see the whole process of step-by-step molding of the whole shrimp & fish feed production line even if they are not on site.

Equipment Delivery
Once all shrimp/fish feed equipment is fully manufactured and the necessary accessories are prepared, we will arrange shipment according to the delivery schedule confirmed with you.
As a long-established manufacturer in the fish feed equipment industry, we have a mature global delivery system. Our feed production equipment has been successfully exported to over 140 countries and regions.
Whether your project is located in Algeria or elsewhere, we can ensure the safe and timely delivery of the equipment to the project site through standardized logistics solutions and end-to-end tracking services.

Installation, Commissioning, and Training
After the equipment arrives at the customer’s project site, we offer flexible installation support options: You can install it yourself or have our engineers assist on-site.
For this project, the customers chose self-installation. To ensure a smooth installation, we provided detailed installation drawings in advance and provided online guidance. If any problems arise during installation, our technical team will timely provide solutions to get the line running smoothly.
After the fish feed production line is installed and commissioned, we provide clients with training, either online or on-site. This training covers equipment operation, routine maintenance, and production process management, ensuring safe and skilled use of the entire feed production line.
In addition, the feed production machinery used in our designed feed production projects comes with a warranty period. After installation, our after-sales service team will proactively monitor equipment operation. Even after the warranty expires, clients can still reach out anytime for expert support, and we’ll promptly supply any needed spare parts.
Customer Evaluation and Project Operation Status
“When RICHI designed the solution for us, they didn’t just talk about equipment specs. Instead, they focused on understanding our raw materials, current products, and future expansion plans. Now that the line is running, switching between different specifications is much smoother than we expected, and the output is fully meeting our targets.
We can now adjust our formulas flexibly based on market demand and no longer rely on imports. This has been a huge boost to our business growth. The automation and product stability have clearly exceeded our expectations.”
